While making a documentary for BBC3, the troubled 23-year-old Mean Girls star – who has battled drug and alcohol abuse – also met boys rescued by police from a slum. They had been forced to work for 16 hours a day making jewellery boxes and bangles to be shipped to the West.

She said: “In many cases their parents had asked the traffickers to take them.”

Lindsay Lohan’s Indian Journey is on Thursday at 9pm.
